Say what’s real.
dressing for the mood, not the room
i used to pick outfits based on what a place 'wanted' from me. lately i just dress for how i feel that morning and honestly? i've never felt more like myself. the maximalist heart wins again 🤍
wore the loud thing and owned it
the outfit i'd normally 'save for later' — wore it to nothing special, just a tuesday. three compliments and a whole lot of feeling like me. stop saving your favorite things for a someday that never comes.
the quiet things we don't say out loud
some feelings are too soft to post on a main feed. that's what this corner is for. thank you for being a place i can be gentle and honest at the same time 🌙
finally like the person in the mirror
took a long time and a lot of small kindnesses to myself. not every day, but most days now, i catch my reflection and… i like her. that's the whole win 🤍
today just… took everything out of me
nothing catastrophic even happened. just a hundred tiny things stacked up and by 6pm i was crying over a burnt dinner. some days the bar is just 'made it to bed' and today that's the whole win. tomorrow gets to be different.
dropped my best friend at the airport and lost it
she's moving across the country for her dream job and i'm SO happy for her and also i sat in the airport parking garage and full-on sobbed for twenty minutes. how do you be thrilled and heartbroken at the exact same time. facetime isn't the same as a tuesday coffee 😭 anyway. proud of her. wrecked about it.
said no to my family for the first time ever
i've been the yes-daughter my whole life. today they asked for something that would've cost me my last free weekend and my sanity, and i just… said no. kindly, but no. the guilt is LOUD right now but underneath it there's this tiny voice going 'finally.'
cried in the office bathroom then went back in
had my little breakdown in the third-floor bathroom, splashed some water on my face, fixed my mascara, and walked right back into the meeting like nothing happened. some days that's the strongest thing you'll do and no one will ever know. i see you if that was you today.
a week off instagram and my brain is quieter
deleted the app for seven days as an experiment. first two days i reached for the empty spot on my phone like a phantom limb lol. by day four i was reading again, sleeping better, comparing myself to no one. not deleting forever but wow the silence is nice.
some days getting out of bed IS the win
not romanticizing it. today was heavy for no reason i can point to. but i got up, i showered, i ate something that wasn't just snacks. if that's you today too — that counts. that fully counts. we don't have to earn rest or gentleness.
handed in my notice today with shaking hands
i've wanted to leave this job for over a year and today i finally sent the email. hands literally shaking the whole time. no new job lined up, just a little savings and a lot of 'i can't do this anymore.' terrifying and also the first full breath i've taken in months.
learning to actually like my own company
took myself to dinner alone. a real dinner, sit-down, no book to hide behind, no scrolling. just me and a plate of pasta and my own thoughts. it was awkward for exactly ten minutes and then it was… kind of wonderful? i think i'm becoming someone i'd want to be friends with.
first date in two years and i didn't cancel
i've cancelled every date for two years. found an excuse every single time. tonight i put on the outfit, drove there before i could talk myself out of it, and… it was actually lovely? we closed the café down. i forgot i could feel like this. proud of myself for just showing up.
results came back clear and i can finally breathe
i've been holding my breath for three weeks waiting on these. got the call this morning — all clear. i didn't realize how much i'd been quietly bracing until i started crying in the pharmacy line lol. hug the people you love a little tighter tonight 🤍
ran my first 5k and cried at the finish 🏃♀️
six months ago i got winded on the stairs. today i ran 5 whole kilometers without stopping and burst into tears at the finish line like an absolute baby. my body did that. the same body i've been so mean to for years. we're friends now. we're a team.
first person in my family to graduate 🎓
walked across that stage today with my whole family in the crowd making an absolute scene lol. my mom cleaned houses so i could study. i kept it together until i saw her face and then completely lost it. we did this. all of us.
made an actual new friend at 29 and i'm giddy
everyone said making friends as an adult is impossible and then i met her at a pottery class and we've texted every day since. i feel sixteen. we're getting dinner friday. is it weird to be this excited about a friend crush? (i don't care, i am.)
opened my first real savings account at 27
no one taught me any of this. i figured out how a high-yield account works from a youtube video at midnight and moved my first $200 over this morning. it's not much but it's the first time future-me has felt like a person i'm actually taking care of.
spoke up in the meeting instead of shrinking
i had an idea, and instead of whispering it to the person next to me and letting someone else say it louder, i actually said it. out loud. to the whole room. my heart was POUNDING but they liked it. small thing. felt like i grew a spine in real time.
i found my old list and cried a little
last spring i wrote down everything i wanted to FEEL by the end of the year and shoved it in a drawer like it was embarrassing to want stuff out loud lol. calmer mornings. a body i wasn't at war with. one friendship that felt like home. clothes that looked like me and not an apology. found the list again this week and… most of it quietly came true?? not in a dramatic movie way, just a hundred tiny ordinary choices — the walk instead of the scroll, keeping the dress that made me stand taller, texting first. the weird part: almost none of it was about becoming someone new. it was just coming back to me. if you're writing your own list tonight, put the small things on it too 🤍 those are the ones that actually show up.
a year of not narrating my own body
not sober from anything dramatic. i just stopped treating my own body like a problem to fix out loud. a year ago i couldn't get dressed without a running commentary in my head the whole time. today i put the outfit on, looked once, and left the house. that's it. that's the whole win. nobody clapped and it still felt enormous. if you're in the loud part right now — it does get quieter, i promise 🕊️
he asked where i wanted to eat and i just… froze
i've spent so long being the 'easy to be around' girl, the one who's fine with whatever, that when he actually asked me where i wanted to go i genuinely blanked. not because i didn't care — because i'd trained myself not to want things out loud. so i went home and made a dumb little list. i like window seats. i like being asked twice. it felt so silly and then it felt like the bravest thing i'd done all year. no neat ending here, i'm just practicing wanting things 🤍
he put the phone face-down and actually heard me
took him forever, and me almost giving up first, but he sat down, flipped his phone over, and just… listened. didn't try to fix it, didn't get defensive, just heard me out. i didn't even realize how braced i'd been until my shoulders dropped like two inches. small thing. felt like everything.
wore the short dress. didn't hold my stomach in.
not for a single photo. didn't suck it in, didn't angle away, just stood there in my body like it was allowed to exist. tiny thing. felt like a whole revolution honestly 😮💨
second date and i already deleted the apps 🙈
trying SO hard not to get ahead of myself but… he remembered my coffee order. from the first date. i'm normal i'm normal i'm normal (i am not remotely normal about this)
paid off my student overdraft this morning 🥹
sat in my car in the parking lot afterward and cried a little. it's not even a big number to anyone else but i've been carrying it for YEARS. i'm free. that's the whole post. i just needed to tell someone who'd actually get it.
one year married today
and nobody warns you that the boring tuesdays are the actual good part. the grocery runs, the who-forgot-the-milk, the falling asleep mid-sentence. i always thought the big moments would be the memory. turns out it's this 🤍
first day back at my desk after maternity leave
excited, terrified, and leaking through my shirt all at once lol. i keep opening my phone to stare at her photo between emails. nobody tells you how you can miss someone this much who you'll literally see in four hours. we're figuring it out 🤍
wore the bright coat i've been scared of for 2 years
the loud one. the one i kept telling myself was 'too much.' finally wore it today and three total strangers smiled at me on the street. turns out the thing i thought was too much was just me finally taking up my own space. wear the coat 🧥✨
said the thing out loud in therapy today
the thing i've been carrying around for a whole year, the one i couldn't even type into my notes app. said it out loud to another human and the ceiling didn't cave in. i feel about ten pounds lighter. if you've been sitting on something heavy — this is your sign 🤍
